Join award-winning book illustrator Peter David Scott for this afternoon workshop based at the historic medieval Bishops Manor in Howden. We will meet at the manor before making the short walk (75 yds.) to the park. There are a number of subjects to turn your hand to, including trees, flowers, the moat, ducks, the Stone Fruit House and Bishops Manor itself. We will be sketching outdoors for around an hour and a half after which we will return to Bishops Manor to add colour and tone to our sketches using watercolour. The course will cover how to put together a practical sketching kit, as well as introduce techniques to improve your sketching.
You do not have to be an expert, but is advisable to have at least a little experience of watercolour painting to get the most from this course, and you will need to have your own kit to use.
Please bring your watercolours, brushes and a sketchbook, block or watercolour paper to work on. You will also need a pencil, eraser and a jam jar. If you do not have any of these items or aren’t sure what you need, please contact Peter.
Ink pens will be available if you wish to use one.
A small lightweight foldable chair would be handy, but there are plenty of benches to use.
(In the event of inclement weather we will be able to work indoors from photographs, but we will visit the park first to get the feel of the place).
